Jessica is a DONA trained doula. From a young age she has been interested in birth and was fortunate to attend her sister’s birth when she was 13. She has known for many years that she wanted to enter into the world of birth professionals, and decided to become a doula after the birth of her second son, which was attended by a doula. As a doula she recognized that many families needed more comprehensive childbirth education. Having seen the positive effects of HypnoBirthing® in her own births, Jessica became a HypnoBirthing Childbirth Educator. She enjoys helping families navigate pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum through finding states of deep relaxation, evidence-based information, and the removal of fear.
Jessica believes that birth is a normal and natural process and that women are strong and powerful and capable of giving birth. She believes that each woman should be given the opportunity to have a calm and peaceful birth experience. Jessica supports moms and families to make informed decisions that meet their birth needs and goals. She has knowledge of current birth practices and options and she stays abreast of current research. She uses her knowledge and resources to work with families to reach their birth goals through support, education and advocacy.
Jessica has given birth to two boys. One at home in Idaho, in 2010, and the other at a birthing center in South Korea, in 2013. Jessica loves the outdoors and is excited to have recently moved back to the mountains and to share experiences with her family in the Sierras.
